Many construction projects in the New England area have begun to build and renovate using the LEED® system developed by USGBC. We are passionate about what we do. WSI has emerged as a regional leader in the waste hauling and disposal industry for our recycle driven waste management practices. Equally, for almost 10 years WSI has been in the forefront of helping architects, contractors and owners achieve LEED certification points for project waste recycling efforts. On a routine basis WSI recycles between 80% - 92% of the construction waste we handle. Experienced team. WSI is independently owned and managed by a team with over 30 years of experience in waste hauling and recycling. Our staff is a versatile group of problem solvers that finds solutions for difficult waste management and disposal challenges. The challenge for all of us. Landfills are no longer a viable option for construction and demolition (C & D) wastes, which account for more than a third of the waste stream generated in Massachusetts. The Commonwealth has advocated for greater recycling efforts on the part of the construction industry. USGBC's LEED certification program, which many clients, architects and municipalities require, awards up to three points for waste recycling efforts. Recycling is now the mandated and preferred solutions to C & D debris disposal. The WSI approach. WSI handles C & D waste in two ways: through on-site source separation or through off-site separation and recycling for mixed debris. In either case, we have over 1000 containers and 35 collection vehicles that service various construction sites throughout New England. We bring mixed debris C & D waste to licensed processing facilities located throughout the area. We bring already separated materials like wood, Gypsum wallboard or metal to other facilities that handle source separated materials. Our relationships with these facilities are extensive. We seek out new vendors on an ongoing basis. Planning. The first step in any construction site recycling program is to develop a recycling plan. We work with the owner, architect and contractor to project recycling goals, estimate debris quantities, and identify materials to be recycled. WSI then helps the contractor decide whether on-site source separation or mixed debris off-site separation is the best option. Documentation. We carefully and thoroughly document all waste taken from a site, the type of material, where it is further processed, and how it ends up. Our chain-of-custody procedures are rigorous. We have never been audited. Call us to discuss your C & D waste management options or to make an appointment to see our facility.
